ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#This study evaluated the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment on postoperative pain in patients with degenerative lumbar spine disease, and explored the relationship between the postoperative analgesic effect of acupuncture and the sensation of acupuncture experienced by the patients.@*METHODS@#This retrospective study analyzed the medical records of 97 patients who had undergone an operation by the same surgeon due to degenerative lumbar disease. These patients were divided into acupuncture group (n = 32), patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) group (n = 27), and oral analgesia group (n = 38) according to the different postoperative analgesic methods. During their hospitalization, patients completed daily evaluations of their pain using a visual analogue scale (VAS), and injection times of supplemental meperidine were recorded. Also, the Chinese version of the Massachusetts General Hospital Acupuncture Sensation Scale (C-MASS) was used in the acupuncture group.@*RESULTS@#Each of the three treatment groups showed significant reductions in postoperative pain, as shown by reduced VAS scores. The acupuncture group, however, had less rebound pain (P < 0.05) than the other two groups. Both the acupuncture and PCA groups experienced acute analgesic effects that were superior to those in the oral analgesia group. In addition, the higher the C-MASS index on the second day after surgery, the lower the VAS score on the fourth day after surgery. There was also a significant difference in the "dull pain" in the acupuncture sensation.@*CONCLUSION@#The results demonstrated that acupuncture was beneficial for postoperative pain and discomfort after simple surgery for degenerative spinal disease. It is worth noting that there was a disproportionate relevance between the patient's acupuncture sensation and the improvement of pain VAS score.

ABSTRACT

Objective To comprehensively evaluate the clinical efficacy, safety and economic benefits of atorvastatin and fluvastatin in regulating dyslipidemia. Methods The clinical randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for comparing clinical efficacy of atorvastatin and fluvastatin on regulating dyslipidemia were retrieved from databases, including Cochrane Library,PubMed,Medline,Embase,Wiley,Springer,CNKI,Wanfang and VIP,till June 2016.Data were evaluated by two reviewers independently according to the Jadad standard. The changes of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C),total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride (TG) before and after treatment were extracted to perform Meta-analysis by using RevMan5.0 software. The economic evaluation was carried out,as well. Results A total of 7 RCTs were included, including 684 cases of patients treated with fluvastatin and 2 208 cases of patients treated with atorvastatin. The patients were spitted into two subgroups according to the same or different maximum dose of atorvastatin and fluvastatin. The results indicated that the effects of atorvastatin on down-regulating LDL-C,TC and TG levels were significantly better than those of fluvastatin, the differences were statistically significant (Z=23.63、23.32、5.50,P<0.000 01).No significant difference was found in regulating HDL-C level between atorvastatin and fluvastatin. Conclusion Compared with fluvastatin, atorvastatin is more effective to regulate levels of LDL-C,TC and TG,but there is no significant difference in up-regulating HDL-C level.Additionally, application of atorvastatin is more economicallv effective.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To optimize the condition of anthrone-sulfuric acid method to determine the polysaccharide isolated from Bletilla striata by central composite design/response surface methodology. Methods:Dextron T20 was a standard substance, independent variables were the ratio of the polysaccharide and anthrone-sulfuric acid, the time of color hydrolysis and the cooling time at room temperature, dependent variable was the UV absorption, nonlinear mathematic models were used to estimate the relationship between independent and dependent variables.Response surface methodology was used to optimize be condition of determination. Results:The optimum conditions of determination:the volume ratio of the polysaccharide and anthrone-sulfuric acid is 1:2;the time of color hydrolysis is 8.00 min;the cooling time at room temperature is 15.00min.On this condition, there was favorable correlation between the absorption of Dextron T20 and polysaccharide of Bletilla striata. Conclusions: Central composite design/response surface methodology can be used to evaluate the feasibility and applicable conditions of the anthrone-sulfuric acid method to determine the polysaccharide isolated from Bletilla striata using Dextron T20 as a standard substance.

ABSTRACT
